Directory Submission Annoyances

Directory submission annoyances may be too easy a word. A couple of directories downright
ticked me off.

I’ve gone to more than a couple that have free advertised all over them, and when you
get to the directory submission page, they want money, you cannot submit your site without
paying. Please don’t waste my time and yours, and aggravate me in the bargain.

Another “technique:” You go and submit your site to a directory.. When you get to the end,
they want a reciprocal. Fine. But the reciprocal link is one to an off the wall site that
the directory owner wants to get spidered. Has nothing to do with the particular site
I’m submitting.

I do this myself. I might submit a site but I’m not doing the reciprocal thing yet.
But, and that’s a big but – the site I reciprocate with is generally related in some way to
the directory theme. And the pages I might put you on have at least a PR3. I’ve had recip link
“requests” to religious sites – wrong! and just completely off the wall sites.

This is a personal blog, and it spans over 14 years. You may see some cussing, ranting, a little weirdness and alot of stupidity. Oh, and whining.

Over the years I’ve used it to test things I maybe shouldn’t have messed with (innocent look), and I’ve tried to clean up but may have missed some stuff. You’ve been warned.
