Kind of a light day today. I had babyboy write a summary – I usually do. The first one stank 🙂 and didn’t apply to the chapter at all. So after discussing writing – and any kind of summary really, we went over who, what, when, where, why and how and how to apply it, he wrote another one which was much better. I then wrote a quick summary utilizing 4 of the above, because how didn’t really apply, and where was covered with when.

Tuesday Lesson – June 26

Tuesday Lesson – June 26

Changing tactics a little bit.

After some thought, and a bit of further reading last night for myself in Dragonflight, I gave my son the option of changing books today. I wanted it to seem like his idea, but last night in Dragonflight I came upon some – shall we say – racy stuff and I don’t want him to have that to deal with. It’s not that racy, but still. With the problems he has with reading, I don’t want to complicate matters.

So, he switched books.

We’re now reading The Egypt Game by Zilpha Keatley Snyder. It’s a Newberry Honor Winner. I’m very proud of him for selecting it.

And, in keeping with my idea yesterday, I had him come up with the questions. You should have seen the look he gave me. It was priceless.
It actually resulted in him reading the section. He came up with some good questions for me:

What does A – Z mean? How is it used?
What things did the characters have in common? (This answer is actually in the introduction. Doubly impressed, here!)
What does merchandise mean?
What is the old man’s name?
Who is Dorothea?

Problem Words

Nefertiti

Hmm. May make him look up Nefertiti.

Picked up a 4th grade multiplication and division workbook, and a 5th grade math book. He really needs to work on his multiplication.

This is a personal blog, and it spans over 14 years. You may see some cussing, ranting, a little weirdness and alot of stupidity. Oh, and whining.

Over the years I’ve used it to test things I maybe shouldn’t have messed with (innocent look), and I’ve tried to clean up but may have missed some stuff. You’ve been warned.
