World War Three won’t be brought about by being in Iraq, or Afghanistan or Iran. Not even terrorism as we know it. What will bring around World War Three?

The U.S. government will indefinitely retain oversight of the main computers that control traffic on the Internet, ignoring calls by some countries to turn the function over to an international body, a senior official said Thursday.

In a worst-case scenario, countries refusing to accept U.S. control could establish their own separate domain name system and thus fracture the Internet into more than one network. That means two users typing the same domain name could reach entirely different Web sites, depending on where they are.
Actually; this could do some good. It would eliminate some spamming I guess. I tend to see someone wanting world domination – you know – of the Big Brudder type.
Which leaves me thinking about a drunken conversation I once had. A fella I was dating in my 20’s stated that Big Brother was going to come about because of cable. This was back when cable was first coming out – I think it was about the time the first cable ready tvs came out.
