Heelys and Injuries

Heelys and Injuries

I’ve never let babyboy wear these things. Not only do they look dangerous – to me, anyway, but I’ve seen alot of parents throw the shoes away after they buy them for their kid.

And most annoying – being in the grocery store when the little brats are heeling or whatever you want to call it. Makes you want to trip em….or their parents!

Dr. Dominic Catanese, a foot specialist at Montefiore Medical Center in New York, said balancing on heels can strain feet and Achilles tendons. He has treated several Heelys-related ankle injuries and won’t let his 7-year-old daughter have the shoes.

“She wants them. Not happening. Just like I took away her trampoline” after reading about trampoline injuries. “It went right to Goodwill,” Catanese said.

And as for the trampoline – I bought one of those little personal ones – got it home, set it up, looked at it, took one look at my then 2 year old babyboy, and took it down. It’s been in the closet ever since. Amazing how you don’t think of these things before you buy them.

This is a personal blog, and it spans over 14 years. You may see some cussing, ranting, a little weirdness and alot of stupidity. Oh, and whining.

Over the years I’ve used it to test things I maybe shouldn’t have messed with (innocent look), and I’ve tried to clean up but may have missed some stuff. You’ve been warned.
