I’ve been noticing this for the last few days.
I’ve rarely gotten any virus email from anyone: once in a while someone on a mailing list will get a virus and I’ll get the odd email this way; but otherwise no. My less than technical buddies are instructed *not* to add me to their address books. Heck; everyone I know: I tell them *please* don’t add me to yer address book. Outlook and OE do this automatically and it just makes me insane. I don’t use Outlook or Outlook express: nor do I add addresses to my address book. Just a safety precaution. One never knows. I also don’t do html email either.
But over the last few months; I’ve joined alot of forums. I’ve never been a forum person before; so it’s new to me. And yes; the email address I use I do make available. This is on purpose. Ever since I’ve done this; I get at least 10 virus emails a day.
I don’t know the logistics of it; I’m sure some enterprising spammer has knabbed my email address and in their stupidity has gotten a virus and lucky me! there I am in their address book software. So I can honestly say that my forum email addy is the one that gets infected. None of my other email addies (and they are many) get viruses.
There oughta be a law: From this day forward; there will be no more adding of addresses to address books. If you break this law, you will be fined heavily!
