Blood sucking devil scare hits villages
By Our Correspondent,
Visakhapatnam, May 29
Seven village’s near the Araku valley have been plagued with the fear of a blood sucking devil forcing them to stay within their homes.
The rumor has affected the business community as most of the farmers have stopped going to the fields to collect Adda leaves also which is the main source of income for them.
According to the police a widow S Padma, a resident of Kothapallguda told the panchayat officials that a devil had sucked her blood by making a wound in her chest after she was returning home from the farms. The news spread like wild fire and people from neighboring villages like Gadyaguda, Dolliguda, Bondaguda, Ninniamguda, Madala and Lotheru refused to leave their homes.
The rumor mills started working overtime and gained momentum when D Govardhan wife of a local scribe stated that she too had seen the devil. The villagers refuse to complain to the police stating that their pleas for help would fall on deaf ears. However the police are trying to establish the truth by interrogating the matter.
